The Alex Foundation Salutes "Parrots of the World"
To raise funds for research, The Alex Foundation is sponsoring a drawing for a beautiful "Parrots of the World" quilt. Created by Diane McKinney, the quilt portrays 23 species of parrots in brilliant, vivid colors. Please visit

The Alex Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Massachusetts, relies entirely on private donations to fund future research-and a very important future it is, too. Alex has recently realized the concept of "zero," a mind-boggling accomplishment! (Details will be published by Dr. Pepperberg in June, 2005, Journal of Comparative Psychology.)
Griffin, Wart and Alex are the most educated parrots in the world, but their education can't continue without your help. Entries for the "Parrots of the World" quilt drawing ($5 = 1 entry, $20 = 5 entries, $50 = 15 entries) can be purchased via Paypal at Alex's website (

Alex will choose the winning entry on May 2. All proceeds from this drawing will be used to support the birds' pioneering work with Dr. Pepperberg. What is true of humans is equally true of Alex-without an education, his mind will be a terrible thing to waste.
