Hier nun der Text aus dem Heft zum Thema Wespenbussard als Mystery Bird VI :

The structure and mostly brown colouration of the raptor in mystery photograph VI led most entrants to honey buzzards Pernis, harriers Circus and buzzards Buteo as possible identifications. In additio, Osprey Pandion haliaetus turned out to be a popular answer (26%). In Osprey, however, the chin would not show such extensive brown colouration.
Furthermore, the crown would be streaked. As for harriers, the facial pattern of the mystery bird is approached most be fermale Montagu's Harrier C. pygargus , which shows the most extensive pale patches. The broad dark eyestripe and the solid brown underparts of the mystery bird, however, do not fit Montagu's, nor any other harrier, including Western Marsh Harrier C. aeruginosus. In addition, harriers show a yellow cere, unlike the mystery bird. Due to the large variation of plumage colouration in both honey buzzards
and buzzards, distinguishing these species on plumage features is rather difficult. The bluish cere of the mystery bird, however, leads to an easy elimination of buzzards, as these would show a yellow cere.
Unlike many other raptors, adults of both species of honey buzzard recorded in the Western Palearctic show a bluish cere, while juveniles show a yellow cere. Of this duo, Crested Hony Buzzard P. ptilorhyncus is unlikely because of the dark colouration of the throat. Crested Honey usually shows a pale throat bordered by a dark band sometimes accompanied by a dark central line. In addition, the seemingly small size of the mystery bird does not fit the rather large Crested Honey Buzzard. By this process of elimination, the mystery bird must be a European Honey Buzzard P. apivorus . It can be sexed as a female by the yellow iris and the brown head pattern. Males show a more orange iris and a grey head.
This European Honey Buzzard was photographed by Arnoud van den Berg at Korgalzhyn, Aqmola Oblast, Kazakhstan, on 23 May 2003. Another photograph of the same bird is shown in plate 378.
It was identified correctly by 26% of the entrants, while Crested Honey Buzzard did not receive a single vote. Western Marsh Harrier was suggested by 16%, Montagu's Harrier by 13% and Common Buzzard B. buteo by 10%.
In the third round, there were 31 entrants of which eight managed to identify both mystery birds correctly.

Tjaaa - es wurde als doch auch Fischadler genannt - ich sollte den Text mal vorher gründlicher lesen ;-)

beste Grüße - Rando ... der NetBird ....
